Getting Started

Hi Everyone!
I am looking forward to learning and sharing our new technology experiences together this summer.  I am Sarah Olson, the high school library media specialist at Lake George.
Although I'm familiar with blogs, follow them, and have created them, I do not have an official library blog yet, and would like to begin doing that.  One of our school goals right now is better communication with the community, and I would like to experiment with different formats for that.  I am also looking at creating a library facebook page this summer.  I haven't started yet, but that is one of my summer goals!  I will let you all know how that goes as well.
I have so many ideas and plans for trying new things, and look forward to this outlet for processing it all, staying on track, and getting feedback from all of you!
Hope everyone is making time for FUN summer reading too!

  1. Hi Sarah! Glad you could join us! I have a FB page for my library, located here: http://www.facebook.com/SCSDMSHSLibrary. I set it up last summer and have been pleased with it so far. I don't have an official library blog, but that's a great idea. Perhaps I'll get one started this summer. I did start a blog to keep track of my professional development activities this summer, and that's listed on the blogroll on the Virtual Vitals' blog. I hope that you'll find our course useful. I'm glad to have you along! If you haven't already, stop by some of the other participants' blogs and leave them a comment. (I know some folks are having trouble with comments--give a shot and be patient...we'll get everyone sorted out eventually.)

  2. Hi Sarah,
I think your idea of having a library facebook page is a fabulous one! What better way to connect to your students?!

This is my first blogging experience but like you, I have read blogs by others. My goal as a blogger is to bring more attention to what I do as a librarian within my district.

Hope you are enjoying your summer.

    Take care,
    Katrina
